DARM has won an award as the department that has produced the most reputable international publications at the IPB level, in 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022 respectively. Furthermore, the Study Program for Coastal and Marine Resources Management (SPL) won an award as the study program that has produced the most publications in reputable international journals in 2021.

Aquatic Hub is the first learning center on blue carbon and blue economy in Indonesia initiated by the Aquatic Resources Management Study Program (PS MSP), Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences (FPIK), IPB University.

Blue Carbon and Blue Economy Science is part of the latest science related to sustainable management of aquatic (fresh and marine) resources and environment as well as sustainable management of fishery resources, aquatic area conservation, aquatic spatial management, aquatic pollution management, which is one of the main competencies of PS MSP FPIK IPB. In global, regional and national developments, mastery of knowledge related to blue carbon and blue economy is the backbone for current and future management of aquatic resources. Various aspects related to the approaches, methods and various available tools are the focus of debriefing and learning for MSP FPIK IPB students. Thus, DARM always tries to become a higher education institution that mainstreams and becomes a pioneer institution of learning based on the latest approaches, such as blue carbon and blue economy in Indonesia.

In addition to the Aquatic Hub, increasing student competence related to the concept of aquatic resource management which includes methodology, digitization, and managerial skills in the fields of blue carbon and blue economy, needs to be supported by field learning laboratories based on aquatic ecosystems, which are supported by the availability of instruments (equipment) in the main laboratory, aimed to facilitate these activities. The Aquatic Hub and field learning laboratory will also support one of the government’s programs, namely Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka – Independent Learned Independent Campus (MBKM) where the MBKM program will accommodate students in gaining empirical experience in the field (government agencies, business and industrial sector (DUDI), or the community).
