IPB University KKN-T Students Conduct Coastal Clean Up with SDN 3 Situregen Students

IPB University KKN-T students have carried out Coastal Clean Up activities in Situregen Village which is one of the KKN programs that aims to raise awareness of the importance of protecting marine ecosystems.

The activity was a socialization about waste to elementary school students which was then followed by a Coastal Clean Up activity. Coastal Clean Up is a simple but useful activity and has a big impact on coastal ecosystems.

Coastal Clean Up was carried out by KKN-T IPB University students, elementary school students, and members of the local police by collecting waste in coastal areas and separating it based on the type of organic, inorganic and B3 waste.

This activity began with conducting outreach related to waste to elementary school students in grades 4, 5 and 6. The presentation of the material consisted of knowledge about the importance of protecting ecosystems in coastal areas, introduction to types of waste, the negative impacts of waste, the importance of sorting waste and carrying out 3R activities (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.) to reduce the amount of waste circulating in the community.

This socialization activity is also interspersed with interactive games that invite students to be directly involved in the process of separating waste based on its types. After carrying out the socialization, IPB University KKN-T students together with elementary school students mobilized to the Cimandiri Laut beach area to carry out Coastal Clean Up activities.

The purpose of holding this Coastal Clean Up activity is to raise knowledge, awareness and concern for SDN 3 Situregen students about the importance of protecting ecosystems in coastal areas, especially the coast of Cimandiri Laut Beach.

The students were also introduced to various types of waste in the community such as organic, inorganic and B3 waste. This is important because the purpose of waste sorting activities is to facilitate the management process, besides that sorting organic and inorganic waste can reduce air pollution caused by the accumulation of waste which is still mixed between organic and inorganic waste.
