For archipelagic countries, island countries, coastal countries or maritime countries that have a wider sea than the land, an economy based on marine ecosystems is an important locomotive. Therefore, a tracking tool is needed to evaluate the progress of marine economic development so that it is in accordance with the principles and principles of sustainability through an instrument called BEDI (Blue Economy Development Index). This was conveyed by Dr. Luky Adrianto, lecturer at the DARM FFMS-IPB as well as the main advisor to CCMRS-IPB at the International Conference on Ocean Economy and Climate Changes Adaptation which was held in collaboration between the Norwegian government in collaboration with the Vietnamese government and supported by United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). This conference will be held for 2 days, 12-13 May 2022 in a hybrid manner in Hanoi, Vietnam and via Zoom.
The conference was opened by the Deputy Prime Minister of Vietnam, H.E. Le Van Thanh with remarks from the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Norway, H.E. Anniken Huitfeldt. Dr. Luky Adrianto was invited as one of the panelists at the Thematic Session entitled Blue Economy – COVID-19 Blue Recovery and Building Forward Better for a Climate-Resilient and Sustainable Ocean Economy together with Prof. Manuel Barange, Director, Fisheries & Aquaculture Policy & Resources Division, Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), Ms. Christina Leala Gale, South Pacific Tourism Organization, Fiji; and Dr Roland Roesch, Deputy Director, Innovation and Technology Center (IITC), International. Dr. Adrianto’s contribution in this conference is an important part of IPB University’s footprint in international scope, especially those discussing marine economic issues which are also part of achieving the SDG14 target.
